'Mental Illness,' the passionately memorable
and oft-used boogeyman of The Powers That Be,
is being resurrected once more in the wake of
YET ANOTHER mass shooting.

Once more, as guns have been used to randomly
murder people going about their day, idiots with
microphones wish to focus solely on the shooter
(and their limited, subjective view of his 'profile.')

We're still not talking about a pervasive gun culture.

We're not talking about desensitization to gun use
through the indoctrination process of video games.

We're not speaking about accessibility on a wide scale.

We're not addressing gun laws--or the lack thereof.
(WHOOPSIE! Texas just made a liar out of me! Wait,
what?!?! Are you kidding me? Passage of a law
ALLOWING open gun carry?!? Man, you can't make
this shit up.)

But no...we need a talking point--a singular focus.
A patsy.
An easy target.
A red herring, more palatable to the folks who should really
be on the firing line.

Like 'Commies,' 'The Blacks,' 'Pushy Dykes,'
'Reefer-Madness Kids,' and of course, D. Trump's fave,
'The Illegals' before us, the 'Mentally Ill' are set to be America's newest on-paper Plight.

Get us catalogued.
Get us branded.
Put the WANTED posters plastered on every corner.

The 'Unstable' are coming for you and your kids...
even as gun aficionados and those deemed fit by the
state's less-than-rigorous background checks are actually
doing the damage. (Not to mention the government
sanctioned 'protectors and servers.')

Too bad there's nothing that could be done to reasonably
and responsibly prevent such potential problems with folks
with chemical imbalances or personality disorders....you
know, like, I dunno... easily accessible mental health services,
assistance with meds, availability of counselors, teaching
understanding of mental illness to the public at large, and
eliminating the stigma and misinformation around mental
health issues.

You know....Preventative care, up front, instead of good ol'
American Hindsight and clean-up.

But, you know...I guess that's just Crazy Talk.

Network of Double-Standards & Practices, Un

The Halliburton Profit Scheme, a.k.a. "protecting overseas investments"
Another Brainiac moment, relying on illogic and
avoidance of reality;

Let's keep worrying about all the overseas
improbabilities and eternal entanglements of their
internal strife: Iraq, Afghanistan, Korea, and such....

...since we only have 1, 360 active, home-grown,
fully-armed, bomb-making, anti-government
American militias *, many with bases training
people to violently overthrow the nation in a
concentrated terrorist war.

(We even know their names, addresses, and a lot of
the details. That's called 'smart,' not 'totalitarian,' by the way.)

Yeah...let's allow that to keep simmering til
something definitively happens, while we continue
shipping troops overseas and spend billions to police
other countries. (Political distractions make for better
news reports than sociological realities.)
Sounds like a plan, Stan.

Instead of remaining a 'simple' matter of excessive
force and unjustifiable homicide, the murder of
Trayvon Martin has become a litmus test for the
personal politics and racism in our sick country.

It is now about a small town's perverted sense of justice.
It is now a case of money and standing buying leniency.
It is now a horrible miscarriage of justice.
It is a defense that is a ludicrous and cruel joke.

The demonization of this young man is disturbing and wrong.

And to think, this never should have happened.
If only an unwell, privileged, armed thug had stayed in his
house and not stalked a young man.
Trayvon was guilty; guilty of being black and free.

Trayvon Martin is dead for no good reason,
and you or I could just as easily be next.

World AIDS Day, 2012

Because it has NOT left us, and
its impact never will.

It's a strange sort of thing, to have lived with and
been affected by something for so long, and yet
so many others never give it a moment's notice.

Still, here in the South, decades after the onslaught
began, people are wont to speak of sex or disease
in any context, ever. Misinformation, fear, shame,
and complete cluelessness about the ongoing existence
of this disease (and how easily it could be halted)
are the norm.

More than ever, this is a socially-spurred disease.

If people won't speak about sex, sexuality, and consequences
due to puritanical judgmentalness and fear of their own
bodies...it's a disaster waiting to happen.

But I always come back to all the good people
lost forever. Beyond all the politics, the anger,
the resentment, and the cultural bullshit, there is
that one simple reality; the permanent loss of
good people I will never see again.

And all of it avoidable.

Over 6,000,000 people lost to date worldwide.
Hundreds of them known to me, grieved by me,
including a handful of my dearest friends in my life.

More than 33 million people
currently living with HIV/AIDS worldwide

I wish I had a time machine.
My world--and the whole world--
is lessened by the departure of these

Gay Republicans? Stupid Is As Stupid Does

So, no big surprise, but the ridiculous and fucktarded
"Log Cabin Republicans" announced official backing
of Willard Romney yesterday.

The Log Cabin Republicans.
The guys who specifically exist so as to be a
uniquely gay support group for the Republican party,
the party with policies and stances that are designed
to eviscerate and decimate gay people, their rights,
their dignity. (And, by the way, named innocuously
enough so most folks wouldn't know what the hell
their group is.)

Do I think all "LCRs" are self-hating fags who want
to concede and be tolerated (superficially) at any cost.
No, not at all.

I think about half are self-hating and desperate for
the dismissive 'affections' of their tormentors, and the
rest are a bunch of ignorant fucking Uncle Toms who
have sold us out and are selfish bastards who care about
their own money, power, and prestige.

For a few pieces of silver...

Supposedly a back-room deal and a false promise from
Romney, the most notorious two-face in politics, was
the impetus for Clarke Cooper (head of the LCR) to
go ahead and give support to the Romney campaign
at the last minute.

Not that it matters; these goons are hated and laughed at on
both sides; by the folks they betray within their 'community,'
and by the 'real' Republicans who still despise them but
contentiously welcome their vote.

And nope, sexuality is NOT the only issue on the table,
obviously! But the GOP is wrong on EVERY social
stance for this country; their anti-gay rhetoric and conservatism,
their unholy alliance with the 'Christian' extremists is simply
indicative of a larger sickness across-the-board.

But what kind of person supports a candidate that
is wholly devoted to denying you rights and
protection? Was there a payoff involved in this
issued support? Because stupidity alone does not
justify backing a flip-flopping, bullying thug with a
history of anti-gay activity that predates his political
career! (And one pro-gay Boy Scouts remark nearly
20 years ago is hardly grounds for ignoring everything else!)

And, Hello! The Mormons are some of the most repressive,
anti-gay religious fanatics out there! Did you all forget that this
guy's first commitment and focus and MISSION in life
(in his addled brain) is to spread his Kool-Aid fueled
religious BS?

It's not a coincidence that a huge history of closeted
gay politicians have been embedded in the Republican party, where,
yes, they have made anti-gay decisions their ticket to
success! How sick is that? You have to be able to hate yourself
if you can detach from making horrific decisions that will
help ruin lives.

It really doesn't make a difference to me if pro-Republican fags are
in or out of the closet; you're an embarrassment, you're dangerous, and
anyone with a lick of sense will refrain from having sex with you
until you come to your senses. You all are out trying to get laid
while the rest of us are busy getting fucked.

Obviously, getting your rocks off is the only
aspect of being gay you care about.
That's one giant step back in time,
and one giant embrace of a filthy stereotype.
Congrats.

Explanations Abound

In the spirit of full disclosure and
transparency, Mitt Romney's  campaign
released this photo of how the former
governor was discovered and
groomed for the political arena.

Not-So-Secret Service

Yup..the Secretion Service scandal...
the old Secret Cervix.
Gotta be careful of any group with the initials "S.S."

So here's the deal;
There is no real story here.
Rather, the idea that all of the behavior 'outed' is
anything new under the sun, is a complete fiction.

This is the big leagues; Good Old Boys Network on
a grander scale. Big, tough, macho, Type A personality
dudes doing dangerous, stressful work, and the culture
is one rife with sex, drugs, violence, and instability
as a result. Just like it always has been.

The military, police, secret service agents, spies,
and others--even high profile big guns like sports
super stars and musicians and movie stars--they
get a surreal sense of reality doing what they do.

Guns, long days, pressure; need an outlet.
I'm not excusing it, but it definitely is the prevailing
mentality that the excesses used to unwind are in
fact an acceptable trade-off for the services provided
by these people. That's a cultural excuse;
"Boys will be boys."

And it's a tale as old as time.

The spin is that after such a hard job, the BMOC's
are pent up and need a release....that they deserve
to 'blow off some steam.' It's par for the course.

And there's an entire network of accommodations and
apologists in place to make sure that such regularly
occurring events like drunken orgies and drunk driving
accidents and assaults and prostitution use and
rapes and murders get swept under the rug, all
neat and tidy. (Tail hook scandal? Alan Schlinder murder?
Pat Tillman? Military rapes covered up? Ah hell...just go to

No, the story here is that everyone is pretending
that this is new or news....that it is a political failure
on behalf of the President (hmmm...how convenient!)
and that this is something that only would have happened
on his watch.

Which tells everyone what they need to know
about the timing, the intention, and the level of
attention being focused on this matter.

The big deal here is discovery. Transparency
(well, sort of) in a world normally filled with
control and containment and pay-offs.

I know several politicans and CEOS who have
no problem creating a black eye for the country
and the office, as well as damaging the sense of security
for the President, if the outcome is that their man might
get in come November.

Where's that story in the mainstream media?

The Ineffectiveness of Fences in Modern America, Pt 1

I grew up in an isolated, semi-rural smaller town on the outskirts of Tampa. Access to the Big City, but not a lot of influence in my  dail...
